Questions homeowners ask us

How much does drywall installation cost?

It depends on square footage, ceiling height, and finish level. Nationally, homeowners often see hang-and-finish work in the low thousands per room — but your walls decide your number.
A note on prices: material and labor costs move up and down, and no two jobs need the same work. Treat any numbers here as starting points, not quotes. Your written estimate after our free visit is the real number for your project.
See our cost guide.

How long does drywall take to install?

A single room usually takes three to five working days: one day to hang, then tape and three coats of mud with drying time between each, then sanding. Rushing the drying causes cracks later. Full detail in our timeline guide.

Can you match my existing texture?

Yes. We match orange peel, knockdown, and smooth finishes so repairs disappear. Matching is one of the main skills that separates a drywall crew from a handyman.

Should I repair or replace water-damaged drywall?

If it stayed wet, replace it. Wet drywall loses strength and feeds mold. We cut out the damaged section, check behind it, and hang fresh board. More on water damage repair.

Do I need to leave my house during the work?

No. We seal the work area with plastic sheeting, control dust while sanding, and clean up daily. Most homeowners stay put comfortably.

Will you paint after the drywall is done?

We leave walls paint-ready: smooth, sanded, and textured to match. We do not paint — but we can recommend painters we trust.

What is the difference between drywall and plaster?

Drywall is panels screwed to framing and finished at the seams. Plaster is troweled over lath in layers. Drywall is faster and cheaper to install and repair; plaster is harder and more sound-deadening but costs more. Full comparison.

Can I hang drywall myself?

Hanging the boards is the easy part and a careful DIYer can do it. The finishing — taping, mudding, sanding invisible — is the craft, and it is where DIY jobs usually show. DIY vs. hiring a pro.

What causes drywall cracks?

Usually the house settling or seasonal movement, especially along seams and corners. Re-taping properly fixes them for good. More on cracks.

Do you work on ceilings?

Yes — ceiling repair, popcorn removal, and new ceiling installation are regular jobs for us. Ceiling repair.
